Match report from away game at Cefn, Saturday November 7th.
Llangollen U11’s travelled to Cefn for four good close games. FC Llangollen lead twice in the first match only to be pegged back to 2 – 2 by a last minute Cefn equaliser. The first goal came from a Rob Lewis shot after he got on the end of a cracking curling cross from Jacob Harrill. The second was an excellent solo effort from Matthew Pleavin. The second game was close until right at the end, after the improving Donovan Evans had equalised an early Cefn strike. However, Cefn scored several in quick succession to run out 4 – 1 winners. Special mention goes to Scott Viney in goal for a string of excellent saves, Stephen McAndrew for superb solid work in front of the defence, and several players for turning out despite being on the recovery from illness. Llangollen FC started slowly and soon found themselves 2 – 0 down in their first game, and although they played well thereafter, they could only find the net once through Ilan Jones. They had to come from behind 3 times in the second match to secure a 3 – 3 draw, through goals from Ilan Jones (2) and Gwilym Keddie. Again it was the defence who performed best through Josh Williams and Josh Williamson”
“Llangollen U11’s football team travelled to Llay, having had the previous weekend off because of a cancelled game at Penycae. Llangollen FC won both their games comfortably. With their usual defensive pairing of George Fletcher and Sam Berry keeping things quiet at the back, Scott Viney in goal had little to do, but deserves a mention for one superb right handed save in the first match. That game was won 5 – 0, with goals from Rob Lewis, Matt Pleavin, a great headed effort from a corner from Stephen McAndrew and two from Tom Drakeley who had a very good game. They won their second match 9 – 1 with two goals from Jacob Harrill, 3 more from Stephen McAndrew and 4 from Rob Lewis. Cian Molloy also played well. FC Llangollen also enjoyed two wins, the first match 7 – 0 with goals from Ilan Jones, Gwilym Keddie, two from Alex Morris and a hat Trick from Leon Finch. The second game was 7 – 1 to Llan, with goals from Ilan, Dan Cox, Leon, Gwilym, Alex and two for Josh Williams. Many of the goals were simple tap ins, which is testament to good and unselfish approach play of the team.”
